To celebrate the launch of the new CIL Facebook Page we'd like to invite you to share your caravanning 'Tips from the Road'. Ten of the best tips, as selected by CIL, will win a $100 Big4 Holiday Park voucher.

'Check out caravan parks like 'Big 4' for discounts and membership cards. There may be a small membership fee but they can also offer great savings on park fees and other benefits too.'

You can use your BIG4 Holiday Parks voucher at over 180 locations across Australia, whether it’s a city stay, seaside escape, country retreat, farm stay, overnight stay, family holiday or touring holiday.

August Tips from the Road winners announced!

We received a huge number of tips - and the standard was so spectacular we couldn't just stick to 5 winners! For this month only, we've selected 8 of the best. Congratulations and $100 BIG4 Holiday Park vouchers are going to the following:

Pack some glow sticks for the kids and at night time pop one on their wrist or some where on their clothes (belt loop or hat string), then if they wander away you will be able to see the stick glowing and know where they are! - Sandy Hunter

Safety Tip! Get a second person to do a check around vehicle and caravan before you set off as a second pair of eyes is always handy to catch a potential mishap on the road. - Sabrina Brewer

Go to Fuel Watch site, trip planner, before leaving home, to see where the cheapest fuel is along the way. Buying at a cheaper town, in a motoring holiday of say 2 months, can make a huge difference. One of the best ways to find cheap fuel along the way, is talking to your fellow travellers!! We are all out for a bargain. - Barbara Herd

When travelling on a non familiar road, even if you know where you are going, have your GPS turned on as it gives you an indication on how tight the next corner is. That way you can better plan your approach to it. - Martin Henderson

A great idea when BBQing at caravan parks is to use baking paper on the BBQ plate, this way you can simply fold up the paper after use, and the plate is clean! - Melissa Brown

Mount a 20 litre drum of water with tap to the rear of your caravan draw bar (at the front of the van) for washing your hands and as a back up if you need water for the radiator in-case you blow a radiator hose or just for if you get stranded for a while. - Jamie McDonald

Keep your plugs (main, anderson, breakaway) protected from the weather with a zip-up stubby cooler. - Mark Costello

Install a rear view camera on your vehicle showing the tow ball to help reversing onto the camper tow bar, this will stop miscommunication between driver/partner when connecting camper to vehicle! - Wendy O'Brien
