Whether it’s planning the annual vacation or dreaming of that round Australia trip, our thoughts are never far away from our next holiday.
Caravan and camping expos are popular events where visitors can see the latest products, learn about the best places to stay and receive fantastic deals and discounts. Whilst these events continue to attract tens of thousands of people the main attendee may surprise you.
For the first time this year female visitors outnumbered males at NSW’s largest caravan and camping event, the Caravan, Camping, RV and Holiday Supershow at Rosehill Racecourse. Visitor Survey Analysis determined that 51% of attendees were female.
Lyndel Gray, Chief Executive Officer of the Caravan, Camping and Touring Industry and Manufactured Housing Industry Association of NSW (CCIA) believes this is due to the increasing number of families choosing a caravanning or camping holiday.
“It’s great to see families taking advantage of the range of products available. From staying in a luxury cabin or safari tent, touring in a spacious caravan or RV or setting up your own campsite, caravan and camping holidays keep the family and the hip pocket happy,” Ms Gray said.
The caravan and camping sector is an extremely important part of the NSW tourism industry. Over the past twelve months, caravan parks delivered a significant 17 per cent of NSW’s visitor nights.
“The caravan and camping industry’s success is due in part to its ability to cater for changing trends. It is now common to see 6-8 berth caravans and motorhomes or camper trailers with additional add on ‘family rooms’.”
“Each time I visit a caravan and camping Expo I’m excited by the level of new and innovative products available. Families are attending the expos to discover the latest and greatest caravans, motorhomes, camper trailers and tents as well as the huge range of accessories that will make their next holiday even more carefree”.
Families will be well looked after at the upcoming Penrith Caravan, Camping and Holiday Expo, Friday 7th – Sunday 9th September at the Penrith Panthers Exhibition Centre, open from 9am-5pm (closes 4pm Sunday).
The Penrith Expo will have live musical performances, face painting, jumping castles, fishing demonstrations and a variety of food outlets to keep both the young and the young at heart content.
“It’s pleasing to see that our industry is successfully catering for the needs of a growing consumer market. As caravan and camping manufacturers and holiday parks continue to appeal to families we are sure to see an even greater interest at the Penrith Expo,” Ms Gray said.
